For this meeting, we will be reading and providing feedback on the draft paper by Melis Kirgil and Andrea Voyer as the second author. The paper, “Framing the pandemic: Collective intentionality and collective (in)action in States’ COVID-19 press conferences” uses the concept of collective intentionality to analyze how the coronavirus pandemic is framed during press conferences, and to connect that framing to compliance with public health recommendations. You can read the paper draft upon request by emailing andrea.voyer(@) or the group mail.

Cultural Sociology at Stockholm University – how to join

Cultural Sociology at Stockholm University generally meets over lunch on the third Friday of the month. The group is open to those who are pursuing or interested in pursuing meaning-centered inquiry in any subject area and using any research method.

The group helps members stay abreast of developments in cultural sociology, improve their own cultural sociological work, and develop networks and collaborations with other cultural sociologists and cultural sociology groups and centers in Sweden and abroad.

Due to COVID-19, the group will meet both online over zoom and in person (room B900) while social distancing guidelines are in place.

Anyone is welcome, but if it is your first visit to Cultural Sociology at Stockholm University, or to join the group email list, please contact the organizers, Anna Lund, anna.lund(@), and Andrea Voyer, andrea.voyer(@)
