The conference will be held at Stockholm University and is organized by the Swedish Institute for Social Research and the Department of Sociology, Stockholm University in collaboration with the Swedish Sociological Association.

International Keynotes:

Jeffrey Alexander, Lillian Chavenson Saden's Professor of Sociology and director of the Center for Cultural Sociology, Yale University. Jeffrey Alexander is an internationally prominent cultural sociologist with a large number of notable publications on his resume, including Cultural Trauma and Collective Identity (University of California Press), The Civil Sphere (Oxford University Press), and The Meanings of Social Life: A Cultural Sociology ( Oxford University Press). His latest book is Breaching the Civil Order: Radicalism and the Civil Sphere (Cambridge University Press).

Melinda Mills, Pofessor of Sociology, Oxford University, also affiliated with Nuffield College. Her later work combines social science research and genetics to better understand family formation and childbirth. She is the author of several well-cited books, including Globalization, uncertainty and youth in society (Routledge) and Globalization, uncertainty and men's careers: an international comparison (Edward Elgar). She has published in several leading journals, such as Nature genetics, European Sociological Review, Journal of Marriage and Family, and Social Science & Medicine.
