All applications to our master's programmes are made through the national website For international students the applications opens 15 October 2018 and can be made until 15 January 2019. For national and EU/EEA students, applications can be made from 15 March 2019 until 15 April 2019. Please click here for more information.

Please observe, students from countries outside the EU/EEA and Switzerland are required to pay both an application fee and a tuition fee.


For the first application round you will around 4 April 2019 receive a notification from regarding your admission. No reply to is necessary for this notification. The students that are admitted will after the 4 April recieve an email from the Department of Sociology with more information. Please note, the email from the department contains very important information for the admitted students if you want to keep your admission to one of our master's programmes.

Students on waiting list will be contacted by email if we have places left.

Register for the course

If you have confirmed to the Department of Sociology that you're coming (please see instruction in the email that we will send you after 4 April) you need to register before you can start the programme. To be able to register you , you need to come to the Department no later than 2 September 2019 (preferably in week 34-35). If you are conditionally admitted we need to see transcripts confirming your eligibility before registration. Please note that if you need to pay tution fee - that need to be paid before registration.

Quick facts about population registration for international students

If you move abroad from Sweden and plan to stay away for a year or longer, you shall no
longer be registered in Sweden. In such cases, you must notify the Swedish Tax Agency that
you are moving abroad at least one week before departure.
